LisäValo

LisäValo is an extension to the Valo education centre in Ylöjärvi, designed by Arkkitehtitoimisto Perko. The extension continues the existing building’s curved facade and provides new facilities for technology education, among other uses. Its appearance is defined by rounded corners, a sloping roofline and vertical facade fins.

The most geometrically demanding part of the facade was its sloping, curved upper edge. The building’s plan departs from a rectangular footprint, with curved edges meeting the inclined roofline. This combination required precise three-dimensional definition of the facade components and their junctions.

We modelled all facade components to fabrication-level accuracy based on the drawings and details supplied by the client. Within a coordinated model, the aluminium frame, cladding panels and vertical fins were fitted to the building’s geometry alongside the glazing, flashings and other associated components.

The aluminium components were manufactured using STP files exported from our production model. We also prepared dimensioned component drawings for quality assurance, providing the manufacturer with both the three-dimensional geometry and drawings for dimensional checks.

The facade was assembled on site from individual components. We supplied Aluteräs with fabrication and installation documentation for all components, including dimensioned drawings and installation drawings. The production model thus linked the geometry required for fabrication with the information needed for on-site installation.
